Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 24, 2026

1. Introduction & Overview

Pace Wireless LLC ("Pace Wireless", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information and device telemetry processed through our Wi-Fi HaLow developer platform, web portal (halow.pacewirelessllc.com), cloud APIs, MQTT telemetry endpoints, and related desktop utilities (the "Platform").

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we process and protect that information, your choices regarding your data, and how you can manage your account and connected devices.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in three categories:

  • Account & Authentication Information: When you register an account, we collect your email address, securely hashed password (using modern cryptographic algorithms such as Argon2id or bcrypt), and randomly generated authentication credentials ("Auth Key" and JSON Web Tokens) used to authorize board provisioning and API requests.
  • Hardware, Sensor & Telemetry Data: When compatible Wi-Fi HaLow boards communicate with our platform via MQTT or HTTP, we receive technical and sensor data transmitted by your hardware. This includes:
    • Hardware identifiers (device IDs, MAC addresses, platform board models, use case identifiers).
    • Firmware versions, boot counts, runtime status, and battery/power supply voltages.
    • Environmental and telemetry readings (e.g., temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, ambient light lux, accelerometer/motion data, particle AQI, radar presence/range/Doppler motion metrics, gate angle/status, relay state, and water sensor readings).
    • Radio performance indicators (RSSI signal strength, SNR signal-to-noise ratio, MCS modulation index, frequency channel, operating bandwidth).
  • Usage, Logs & Web Push Subscriptions: We collect standard web service logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps, request routes) to secure and maintain API integrity. If you enable browser Web Push notifications, we store the cryptographic push subscription endpoint generated by your browser to route event alerts to your device.

3. How We Use Collected Information

We process collected data exclusively to provide, maintain, and improve our services, specifically to:

  • Authenticate your identity, manage device ownership, and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Render real-time telemetry dashboards, historical sensor trend charts, and raw sensor inspector views.
  • Execute authorized cloud-to-device commands (e.g., relay toggle, shutter capture, calibration) directed to your boards.
  • Evaluate event triggers and deliver requested alert notifications (via in-portal inboxes and browser Web Push).
  • Provide USB desktop flashing handoff and firmware download access through HaLow Flasher.
  • Diagnose network anomalies, monitor broker health, mitigate denial-of-service attempts, and protect system security.
NO SELLING OR MONETIZATION OF YOUR DATA

Pace Wireless LLC does NOT sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal information, email addresses, or device telemetry to third-party data brokers, advertising networks, or third-party marketers under any circumstances.

4. Data Storage, Security & Retention

We implement industry-standard administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect your personal and telemetry data:

  • Encrypted Transport: All browser communications, API requests, and MQTT telemetry streams are encrypted in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3 / HTTPS / MQTTS).
  • Scoped Cloud Persistence: Authenticated device samples and alert histories are stored in dedicated cloud database schemas strictly scoped by account owner and device identifier.
  • Telemetry Retention Policy: Telemetry sample history for trend analysis is retained for a rolling thirty (30) days in database-downsampled form, after which older granular samples are automatically pruned.
  • Password Protection: Passwords are never stored in plain text; we use high-work-factor cryptographic hashing.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers only to the minimal extent necessary to operate the cloud platform:

  • Cloud Infrastructure & Database Hosting: Secure cloud server providers that host our API, database, and MQTT broker infrastructure.
  • Transactional Email Services: Providers used to deliver essential system emails (e.g., password reset requests).
  • Browser Web Push Gateways: Standard push service endpoints operated by your browser vendor (e.g., Apple Web Push, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, Mozilla Push Service) used strictly to deliver user-enabled alerts.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect the safety and legal rights of Pace Wireless LLC and other users.

6. Cookies & Browser Local Storage

The HaLow Portal uses browser localStorage rather than intrusive third-party tracking cookies:

  • halow_jwt: Stores your encrypted authentication session token.
  • halow_user: Caches your user identity, active role, and Auth Key locally to provide a smooth portal experience.
  • halow_selected_device: Preserves your active board selection between browser refreshes.
  • halow_last_email: Remembers the email you last signed in with so the sign-in form can greet you and prefill your address.

We do not use third-party analytics trackers, cross-site trackers, or advertising pixels.

7. User Rights & Account Controls

You have direct, immediate control over your data within the HaLow Portal:

  • Auth Key Regeneration: You can regenerate your provisioning Auth Key at any time from the account menu, instantly invalidating former credentials.
  • Device Management & Deletion: You can rename, reorder, or delete registered devices from your account. Deleting a device removes its association and triggers deletion of its telemetry history.
  • Notification Preferences: You can customize or disable push notifications and route specific alert categories per device.
  • Account Deletion: You may request complete account deletion and purge of all associated records by contacting support@pacewirelessllc.com.

8. Children's Privacy

The Services are intended for adult developers, engineers, and authorized enterprise users. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 where applicable by local law). If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete such information.

9. Policy Updates

Pace Wireless LLC may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our platform or legal requirements. When updates occur, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this document. Continued use of the platform following the posting of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
